Biographie

Soufiane El Khalidy is an actor, filmmaker, and writer whose work spans international cinema, television, and the global independent film circuit. With a commanding screen presence, physical intensity, and a deeply cross-cultural identity, he has established himself as a distinctive voice bridging European, American, and Arab storytelling, with a growing footprint in Hollywood and major international productions.

Fluent in English, French, and Arabic, El Khalidy brings a quiet authority to his performances, often portraying characters shaped by inner conflict, resilience, and displacement. His work across American and international series and films has positioned him as a versatile, globally oriented actor, capable of moving seamlessly between industries. Known for his commitment to authenticity, he frequently performs his own stunts, notably in Attamania (The Eight), grounding his work in a strong physical realism.

His screen credits include high-profile international productions such as Ghosts of Beirut, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Mary alongside Anthony Hopkins, as well as The Eight, Shockwave: Countdown to Disaster, and De Gaulle: Partie 1. Alongside these projects, he has developed a parallel trajectory in independent cinema, both in front of and behind the camera.

His academic background reflects a distinguished and international trajectory, combining studies in France with a degree in marketing from Al Akhawayn University in Morocco, before advancing to the United States to earn a Master of Fine Arts in Film Production from Full Sail University, where he was awarded the Global Scholarship in recognition of his potential. He was also selected through preliminary auditions for the prestigious Actors Studio Drama School in New York, further underscoring the caliber of his artistic foundation.

His short film Flags and Masks Down marked an early breakthrough, earning numerous awards, nominations, and official selections across the international festival circuit. The film was recognized at festivals including the Los Angeles CineFest, Miami Independent Film Festival, Mac Horror Film Festival, Visionaria International Film Festival, Barcelona Planet Film Festival, Blackbird Film Festival, and the Cyprus International Film Festival (Golden Aphrodite Awards). It notably received Best Short Film at the InterShort Online Film Awards and finalist recognition at the IndieWise Film Festival / Convention in Miami, confirming its impact within the independent film landscape.

As a writer, El Khalidy has also gained recognition for his screenplays, including Jukebox Zero and Just Like You Imagined, which have been officially selected, nominated, and awarded in multiple international screenwriting and film festivals. These projects have been recognized by platforms such as the Chicago Horror Film Festival, Los Angeles CineFest, US Hollywood International Golden Film Awards, and the International Open Film Festival. In 2024, Just Like You Imagined received a nomination at the Widescreen Film & Music Video Festival in Toronto, further consolidating his presence as an emerging screenwriter on the international scene.

Beyond cinema, he is the author of Les Riffs d’un Moroccan Rebel, a literary work exploring identity, rebellion, and artistic expression. His artistic voice, often described as both "rebellious and empathetic", has been highlighted in several public appearances, including his interview on the prime-time show hosted by journalist Ouadih Dada, where he explored questions of identity, cultural duality, and creative expression.

He is also the creator of the series The Arab Stuntmen, a project dedicated to uncovering the overlooked legacy of Arab stunt performers in global cinema. The project reached a significant development milestone through an option agreement with the Paris-based production company Special Touch Studios, led by producer Sébastien Onomo.

At the core of his work lies a constant dialogue between cultures, disciplines, and identities. His artistic language blends the legacy of classical cinema with the raw energy of contemporary storytelling, often exploring themes of belonging, resilience, and transformation.

He shares both his life and artistic path with actress Nadia Benzakour, forming a creative partnership rooted in a shared commitment to storytelling and cultural dialogue. Together, they embody a new generation of internationally oriented talent emerging from the intersection of European and Arab cinema.

With a body of work spanning mainstream productions, independent film, and screenwriting, Soufiane El Khalidy stands as a singular presence in contemporary cinema, an actor and creator defined by international reach, artistic depth, and a quietly powerful vision.
